These primary colours (red, yellow, blue) are saturated tones (gray added). The red and mustard yellow "pop" but the dark blue background is more subdued so it is not jarring. The space kitty has weightless movements. The seated space vamp has an expression that she can't be pushed around (not a 1960s Barbarella expression).
