• MY NYLONS BACK STORY: Best as a display or take a spare pair! In the car before my first (& last!) fashion contest, I discovered my genuine 1950s nylons were unravelling on one leg before my eyes.
• After much shrieking in the car, I was late so ran bare-legged onto the stage to follow the last moving dress in the ladies' contest.
• I realised that I was following a man in a dress for the ladies' finals and the judges' shocked expressions led me to stumble and face plant on stage in front of them.
• I remained prostrate for a while, remembering the family's teachings about poise, then rose to my feet and did a slow curtsy to the judges and packed audience as if it was part of my act...I won the next contest!
